Caboose Renovation cont'd
In the photo to the immediate left, you will note that there are blowtorch marks on the walls.
The caboose interiors were stripped, examined with meticulous attention, and all of the walls were
inspected so that any rusted areas were removed and restored. The modifications that were made
to the interior architecture of each caboose was intentionally minimal. We did have to make minor
modifications to accommodate the modern needs for a bathroom area and sink.
The photo below and to the right, shows the sink area of the caboose after renovation. Please
note that this is the same area as what is shown in the first photo at the top of this page.
The exteriors of the cabooses were in rough shape as well. We had to do actual autobody work to
preserve them and insure that there would be not further deterioration. Rust was removed, areas were filled
and sanded, and then a coat of primer and caboose red paint were applied to the outside.
