Steuben County is easy to reach, fun to explore for all members of the family,
and the Caboose Motel puts you within easy driving distance to all points of interest.
The area is noted for its wineries, lakes, trout streams, hiking trails, and state parks.
The Corning Museum of Glass is a jewel in the crown of this region. You can learn about the history
of glass that spans a period of thirty-five hundred years, glass making, or shop in the retail division that
contains art glass, glass jewelry, Steuben glass, books on glass, and consumer glass products.
If you are a fan of early aviation, the Village of Hammondsport boasts a fine museum dedicated
to Glenn Hammond Curtiss, who was a pioneer of early aviation. The museum has exhibits of
pre-World War I aircraft, and it holds an extensive collection of period memorabilia. Driving a little further
down the road, you can find the National Warplane Museum in the Corning-Elmira area. This houses aircraft
of World War II vintage. They also offer airplane rides.
